JOSEP MARIA SOLÀ
Sant Feliu de Pallerols, La Garrotxa, 1970.
From a very young age he is aware of his passion for drawing and painting and driven by artist Josep Colomer, his first teacher, he learns the basic technique of stroke, perspective and color.
In 1991 he began his studies in Fine Arts at the School of Olot, obtaining the title of Graduate in Applied Arts and Artistic Crafts en Artes aplicadas , in the specialty of Mural Painting, in 1996.
At the age of 16 he had his first individual exhibition, and encouraged by the excellent reviews, he began his artistic career.
An artist dedicated solely and exclusively to painting, he holds various exhibitions every year, usually alternating between the same art galleries, which already have a loyal audience for his artwork. To date, he has had more than 75 individual exhibitions.
In the words of Francisco Agramunt Lacruz, PhD of Art History, “His compositions reveal to us a true painter of the 21st century against the grain of fashion and postmodern movements, who has a great personality, sensitivity and mastery of a pictorial cuisine that credit him as one of the great representatives of the Catalan school, and in particular the Olotine”
Solà defines himself as a non-conformist painter, and this feature is evident in his painting where he reflects a desire to revitalize the landscapes he paints from nature, always remaining faithful to the most classical expressions of landscape.
